AddRan Festival of
Undergraduate Scholarship
and Creativity |

AddRan
College is pleased to announce the Third
Annual AddRan Festival of Scholarship and
Creativity to be held on Wednesday April 16,
2008. The Festival, open to all
undergraduates with majors or minors in one
of the programs of AddRan College, consists
of oral and poster presentations of the
research conducted by some of the College's
brightest undergraduate students. The
Festival is free and open to the public.

AddRan College Welcomes New
Dean |
|
|
Dr. Andrew
Schoolmaster has been named the second Dean
of AddRan College of Humanities & Social
Sciences.
After earning a bachelors degree in history
and masters and doctoral degrees in
geography from Kent State University,
Schoolmaster spent 24 years in the geography
department at the University of North Texas,
as well as serving as the associate dean for
administrative affairs. Since 2004, he
has been serving as dean and professor of
geography in the College of Arts and
Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University.
Schoolmaster is a member of such
professional organizations as the Council of
Arts and Sciences, Association of American
Geographers, Western Social Science
Association and Sigma Xi among others. His
areas of expertise include environmental
policy, recreation resource management,
conservation of natural resources, survey
research and data analysis and applied
geography.

Texas Legation Papers |
|
|
AddRan College is proud to announce that the
Texas Legation papers, a collection of 250
state historical documents, will be housed
in the Special Collections area of the Mary
Couts Burnett Library at TCU for the next
five years. The papers were official
correspondence of the Republic of Texasand
were housed in its legation office in
Washington, D.C. The collection
includes the Treaty of Velasco, signed by
the legendary Sam Houston and Mexican
President Santa Ana. Pictured
below, at the press conference announcing
the transfer of the papers, are (left to
right) J.P. Bryan (Houston), Lisa Albert (TCU
Office of Communications), Jerry Ray
(Austin), Betty Ray (Austin), Kathy Limmer (TCU
Office of University of Advancement), Dean
Mary Volcansek, Jon Bryan (Houston), and
Gene Smith (Director of the Center for Texas
Studies). J.P. Bryan and Jon Bryan are
donors to the Texas Legation papers; Jerry
Ray is a member of the TCU Board of
Trustees.
